It’s a dwarf local variety which is widely cultivated in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. It is used to demand the needs of tender coconut needs across the country. Saline area is very much suitable for the cultivation of this variety. Unlike other coconut variety the leaf scars will be orange in color. The plants started bearing fruits from its third year. The variety gives good yield with medium maintenance and water supply. It has different names in different parts of the country namely Gowrigathram, Chenthangu and Kenthali. Saplings should have a spacing of 20*20 feet to achieve better yield and the pit depth should be 2.5*2.5*2.5 width, breadth and height. It can withstand heavy drought conditions as well.
